Hold - Pick Up Card Message

To help you understand the Hold - Pickup Card message and how to solve for them.


This message indicates that the issuing bank is requesting that the card be returned to them and there are 2 ways to resolve for this message.

  • Hold the card
  • Return the card to the cardholder

 

Not comfortable holding the Cardholders Card

What do I do if I am not comfortable holding the cardholders card?

  1. Advise the Cardholder that the transaction is declined.
  2. Return the card to the Cardholder.

 

Comfortable holding the Cardholders Card

What do I do if I am comfortable holding the cardholders card?

  1. Advise the Cardholder that you will be retaining their card.
  2. Determine the card type
If the card is: Then you:
BMO MasterCard or Internationally Issued Visa/MC
  1. Write down the card number and Cardholder name.
  2. Advise the Cardholder that you need to cut their card in half
  3. Put the cut card in a self-addressed/stamped envelope along with the following information:
    • Store Name
    • Store Address
    • Your name
    • Your contact number
  4. Mail to: 
    Moneris
    Attn: MN rewards
    PO BOX 219 Station D

Domestic RBC Visa
  1. Write down the card number and Cardholder name.
  2. Advise the Cardholder that you need to cut their card in half
  3. Put the cut card in a self-addressed/stamped envelope along with the following information:
    • Store Name
    • Store Address
    • Your name
    • Your contact number
  4. Mail to:
