Terminal administration
Locking the screen
In order to prevent unauthorized use, Moneris recommends locking the terminal screen when:
- your terminal is unattended, for example, when you are away from the cash register area;
- your business is closed. Leave the terminal powered on and lock the screen.
To lock the screen:
- Think of a lock code you will remember (using 4 to 10 digits).
- You cannot use consecutive numbers (such as 1234) or repeating numbers (such as 1125).
- On the Main menu, tap Screen Lock.
The “Please enter a temporary lock code for this device” prompt appears. - Enter the lock code you determined in step 1, then tap OK. The screen is locked.
To unlock the screen:
- enter the same lock code you used to lock the screen, or
- enter your user ID and passcode.
Sync your terminal with Moneris
Follow these steps to sync your terminal with Moneris.
- On the Main Menu, tap Software Update, then Sync with Moneris.
The terminal displays "Syncing your device, please wait" followed by "Sync completed successfully". - Tap OK to acknowledge the message. The screen returns to the Software Update menu.
- Press the menu
key to return to the Main menu.
Check for software update
Follow these steps to check for and download software updates to your terminal.
- On the Main Menu, tap Software Update, then Check for Software Update.
- Respond to any security prompts that appear.
The terminal downloads any updates, installs them, and then reboots. After rebooting, the terminal returns to the idle screen.
Software update settings
Follow these steps to ensure you have the right communication settings to receive software updates from Moneris.
- From the Main Menu, tap Settings > Communication > Software Update.
- Respond to any security prompts that appear.
- On the Software Update Settings screen, review the two fields. Do not change these values unless directed by Moneris. To exit, press the red
key.
- URL Address
- Port
- If you made any changes, tap Save.
- At the confirmation prompt, tap Save again.
The screen returns to the Communication Settings menu. - Do one of the following:
To go to the default screen, press the redkey. Enter clerk ID if needed.
- To go to the Main Menu, press the menu key.
