Merchant Direct - Introduction

This article provides instructions on logging in to Moneris Portal and Merchant Direct, as well as some general introductory information about the dashboard.

Overview

Moneris® Merchant Direct is an evolution of the original Merchant Direct reporting and administration portal. It is available 24/7 and features a slick new interface, with simplified, yet powerful new reporting tools to make it easier to get access to the data that matters to you, and improved self-serve features.

Merchant Direct - Sign In and Out

Merchant Direct - Sign In and Out

Follow the instructions below to sign in and sign out of the Merchant Direct portal.
Note: As of November 12, 2024 this process will be changing. Refer to the Sign in to the Moneris Portal section below for more information on the new process. 

 
 

Merchant Direct - Sign into the portal

  1. Open your preferred web browser and navigate to Merchant Direct Login.
  2. On the "Login" page, enter your credentials as follows:
    1. Click inside the Email Address field and enter your email address.
    2. Click inside the Password field and enter your password. 
  3. Click the Login button.

If you forgot your user ID to log in:

  • User ID is the email address you used to sign up for Merchant Direct.

If you forgot your login password:

  • Follow the procedure in Reset your Password .
 
 

Merchant Direct - Sign out of the portal

Logout of Merchant Direct

  1. In the top right corner of the screen, click on your user name. 
  2. On the popup menu, click Logout.

After you log out, you are returned to the Moneris Portal logon screen. From there you can log back in.

Return to the Moneris Portal screen

Note:  This action does not log you out; it leaves you logged in but closes Merchant Direct. 

  1. In the top right corner of the screen, click on your user name. 
  2. On the popup menu, click Moneris Portal. The system returns you to the Portal, where you can select a different application to launch. 
 
 

Merchant Direct - Sign in with the two-factor authentication

If you have two-factor authentication enabled, you will see additional prompts during the sign-in process. Follow the instructions below to log in using two-factor authentication.

  1. Open your preferred web browser and navigate to login.moneris.com.
  2. On the Login page, enter your credentials as follows:
    1. Click inside the Email Address field and enter your email address. 
    2. Click inside the Password field and enter your password. 
  3. Click the Login button. The Two-Factor Authentication pop-up appears. 
  4. Follow one of the following two guidelines:
  • If you use an authenticator app:
    1. Launch the authenticator app on your mobile device and look for the option called “Moneris”.
    2. Write down the six-digit PIN that the app generates. 
    3. In the Two-Factor Authentication pop-up, enter the six-digit PIN generated by the app.
    4. Enter the passcode in the Enter code field.
    5. Check the Remember this device box and click the Submit button. The dashboard is displayed.
  • If you use email or text message (SMS) authentication:
    1. In the Two-Factor Authentication pop-up, select how you want to receive the authentication code (via Email or SMS), then click Next. The system generates an email or text message (SMS) depending on your choice and sends you a six-digit authentication code.
    2. Enter the passcode in the Enter code field. 
    3. Check the Remember this device box and click the Submit button. The dashboard is displayed.
 
 

Merchant Direct - Sign on to the Moneris Portal

Moneris is in the process of introducing a new single sign on portal that will unify the way you sign on and access your various Moneris portals, including Merchant Direct, Moneris Go Portal, Moneris Insights, and Moneris Go Retail. The Moneris Portal is intended to be a single location from which to access all your Moneris digital products, including Merchant Direct. As this rollout of the new unified Moneris portal progresses, you will be prompted to register for the new portal. 

This new portal will also change how you access and sign in to Merchant Direct. For the most up-to-date information on the new Moneris Portal and instructions for registering and signing on, visit moneris.com/support/moneris-portal and view the following documents applicable to your use case:

  • Migration guide for users with only a Go portal account - As the name suggests, this guide explains how to migrate to the Moneris Portal for merchants who only have a Go portal account. For the purposes of Merchant Direct, this guide is not applicable to merchants who have a Merchant Direct account (meaning you, the reader of this webhelp).
  • Migration guide for Go portal users with Go portal and Merchant Direct accounts - If you have both a Go portal and Merchant Direct account, use this guide for migration instructions to successfully migrate to the new Moneris Portal. It explains how to create a Moneris Portal account, set up enhanced two-factor authentication, and how to access Merchant Direct through the new portal.
  • Migration guide from Merchant Direct for users with Merchant Direct only or Merchant Direct and Go portal accounts - If you only have a Merchant Direct account, or a Merchant Direct and Go portal account, use this guide for migration instructions to successfully migrate to the new Moneris Portal. It explains how to create a Moneris Portal account, set up enhanced two-factor authentication, and how to access Merchant Direct through the new portal. 
 
 

Merchant Direct - View the Dashboard

Merchant Direct - View the Dashboard

The dashboard is featured on the main landing page of Merchant Direct once you have signed in. It is divided into four sections:

  • Yesterday's Insights - This section displays a summary of purchases and refunds conducted yesterday, including a net dollar amount, number of transactions performed, and the average ticket amount.
  • Daily Net Sales - This section displays daily net sales data at a glance, starting from the previous day back 30 days. For example, if you login December 1, you would see net sales for the previous 30 days of November. For merchants with multiple accounts, the totals shown are a sum total of all accounts.
  • Your Account - This section has links to update your profile and your password, and displays the last time you logged in to Merchant Direct. It also displays the expiry date on your current password.
  • Announcements - This section is dynamic, and displays relevant announcements by Moneris.
