    Before you get started

Make sure you have everything you need to set up your terminal.

    1. Confirm you have received the required hardware.

Remove the protective film (if applicable)

If your terminal has a protective film covering the display screen, peel the film off.

Hint: Peel from the top right to the bottom left corner.

    Install the paper roll

    1. Lift the printer latch up, and then pull back to open the lid and expose the paper well.

    1. Insert the paper roll into the paper well with the loose end unrolling from the top of the roll toward the back of the terminal.

Note: If the paper is installed backward, your printouts will be blank.

    2. Unroll enough paper to extend at least one inch (2.5 cm) past the back of the terminal.

    1. Close the lid, and press down to snap it back into place so that the extended paper is pressed securely against the closed lid and the faceplate.

Note: The paper should unroll back over the top of the printer, not unroll over the faceplate.

Note: To advance the paper from the printer when the lid is closed, you must press and hold down the paper feed key when the terminal is powered on. DO NOT attempt to manually advance the paper by pulling it as this will damage the printer.

    1. Power on the terminal by pressing and holding the green key until the screen illuminates. Once powered on, proceed to Charging the battery.
    2. Your hardware setup is complete. Go to Software setup.

    Software and communication setup

    Before getting started

There are 2 variations of the Moneris Core® Move/5000 terminal: one variation supports both cellular (4G) and Wi-Fi® communication, the other supports Wi-Fi communication only. If your terminal supports Wi-Fi only, you may disregard any references to cellular (3G and 4G) communication in this manual. Find out more about these wireless communication methods and how they are shown on your terminal.

Set up our software and network connection to Moneris

To set up your terminal software quickly, tap OK at the "Welcome! Let's get you payment ready screen", then follow the prompts on screen. If you need help, follow these step-by-step instructions.

Once you have established a network connection and synced your terminal with Moneris, go to "Securing your terminal" below.

Understanding communication options on your wireless terminal

Understanding communication options on your wireless terminal

There are 2 variations of the Moneris Core® Move/5000 wireless terminal: one variation supports both cellular (4G) and Wi-Fi® communication, the other supports Wi-Fi communication only.

    Dual communication - cellular (4G) and Wi-Fi

If your terminal supports both cellular (4G) and Wi-Fi communication, the 4G icon will appear in the status bar at the top of the screen when you power on the terminal. When the terminal connects to your Wi-Fi network, the Wi-Fi icon will appear instead of 4G. As you move the terminal from one area to another, it will switch automatically to the network with the stronger signal without interrupting communication.

When the terminal switches back to the cellular network, it will display the 4G icon again.

    Wi-Fi communication only

If your terminal supports Wi-Fi communication only, then only the Wi-Fi icon will appear in the status bar at the top of the screen. You may disregard any references to dual or cellular or 4G communication in this guide.
