    Settings

    Access settings (web application)

    1. On the main menu, hover over Settings.

     

    Settings summary

    Moneris Go Retail is an application within the Moneris Go portal. Depending on permissions and access to other functions within Go portal, some Go Retail merchants may see settings that are not applicable to Go Retail.

    Settings menu Details
    Store

    Payment. These settings do not apply to Go Retail.

    Tax configuration. Refer to Tax Settings. 

    Terminal These terminal settings will be applied to all of your terminals.
    Developer tools These settings do not apply to Go Retail. Do not change them unless directed by Moneris.

     

    Tip settings

    Coming soon. 

    To allow your customers to leave a tip when paying for a purchase, enable tipping, configure the tip settings, and sync your terminal(s).

     

    Enable tipping

    1. On the Settings menu, click Terminal. 
    1. On the Terminal settings page, scroll down to "Accept tips."
    1. Click the toggle to enable tipping. The tip settings appear. 

     

    Configure tip settings

    These settings determine which tipping options your customers will see when they use the terminal to make a payment. 

    1. To allow customers to enter their own tip amount (vs selecting one of the preset tips), click the boxes next to By dollar or By percentage or both.
    1. Under Tip presets, select Percentage or Dollar.
    2. In the fields for Tip preset, enter the values that your customers will select from when leaving a tip. Note: Customers also have the option of not leaving a tip. 
    1. Under Tip calculation, select one of the options (Before tax or After tax) to determine how the tip percentage is calculated. Be sure to follow any laws and regulations that apply to your province/region. 

    1. At the top, right of the page, click Save. 

    1. A panel appears instructing you to sync your payment terminal(s) to receive the tip settings. 
    2. Proceed to sync your payment terminal. 
    3. When finished, click Okay to dismiss the panel. 

     

    Sync your terminal

    1. On the main menu of the terminal, tap Settings.
    2. If prompted, enter your password and tap Continue.
    3. On the Settings screen, tap Sync settings. 
    4. Repeat these steps on each terminal connected to your Go Retail store.

     

    Set up your hardware and software

    Set up your hardware and software

    Go Retail is a web-based application which functions within the Moneris Go portal. You can access it via your web browser on a computer or laptop. You must set up a Moneris Go terminal, in integrated mode, to connect to the web application, to allow your customers to pay. Follow steps 1 to 3 to set up your hardware and software for the web application. The Moneris Go Retail terminal app (Step 4 below) is optional.

    Go Retail is a web-based application which functions within the Moneris Go portal.  You can access it via your web browser on a computer or laptop.  You must set up a Moneris Go terminal, in integrated mode, to connect to the web application, to allow your customers to pay. Follow steps 1 to 3 to set up your hardware and software for the web application.  The Moneris Go Retail terminal app (Step 4 below) is optional.  

    Terminal setup (for both the Go Retail web app and the Go Retail terminal app)

    Set up the terminal hardware:

    • Insert the paper roll to allow printing of receipts and reports.
    • Charge the battery.
    • Power on the terminal. 

    Perform the initial setup of the terminal by responding to the prompts on screen. 

    Enable Wi-Fi and connect to your local Wi-Fi network. 

    For help with these steps, refer to the support page for the Moneris Go Overview or the Moneris Go Plus terminal.   

    Terminal software (for the Go Retail web application)

    Set up the terminal software for integrated mode.  

    External barcode scanner (for the Go Retail web application)

    Set up and use an external barcode scanner, if applicable. 

    Go Retail terminal app for the wireless Go Plus terminal (if you wish to use the terminal app)

    Install the Go Retail app on the Go Plus terminal to use the terminal app without your computer or laptop. This optional app requires the Go Plus terminal.

     

    Integrate your Go / Go Plus terminal with the Go Retail web application

    Integrate your Go / Go Plus terminal with the Go Retail web application

    In order to use your Moneris Go terminal with the Go Retail web application, you must switch the terminal from standalone mode to integrated mode (also known as cloud mode). Once the terminal is in integrated mode, it can receive commands from the Go Retail web application when you process a transaction. Your customers can then use the terminal to enter their payment cards. The terminal also sends payment information back to Go Retail.

    Follow these steps to download and install the Go Integrated app. For more detailed instructions, visit https://support.moneris.com/moneris-go-solutions/moneris-go, click on the terminal you are using (for example, Go or Go Plus), then refer to the Moneris Go or Go Plus Integrated Getting Started Guide.

     

    Install the Go Integrated app on the Moneris Go terminal

    Follow these steps if you have the Go terminal. If you have the Go Plus terminal, proceed to the next section. 

    1. Navigate to the terminal's home screen by tapping the circle in the Android navigation bar which appears at the bottom of the screen.

      Note: You may have to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to display the navigation bar.

       
    2. On the home screen, tap the PAXSTORE icon to open the store and view applications you can download and install.
    3. On the All-apps tab, locate the Go Integrated app and tap it to view more information.
    4. On the Go Integrated screen, tap Install to download and install the app. Once the button at the bottom of the screen changes from "Install" to "Open", the app has been successfully installed.
    5. Tap the back arrow on the Android navigation bar to return to the home screen.

     

    Install the Go Integrated app on the Moneris Go Plus terminal

    1. Navigate to the terminal's home screen by tapping the circle in the Android navigation bar which appears at the bottom of the screen.

      Note: You may have to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to display the navigation bar.

       
    2. On the home screen, tap the AppStore icon to open the store and view applications you can download and install.
    3. On the Catalog tab, locate the Go Integrated app and tap it to view more information.
    4. On the Go Integrated screen, tap Install to download and install the app. Once the button at the bottom of the screen changes from "Install" to "Uninstall", the app has been successfully installed.
    5. Tap the back arrow on the Android navigation bar to return to the home screen.

     

    Go and Go Plus terminals - Set up terminal integration 

    1. Open the Go Launcher application. This app is already on your terminal.
      1. On the terminal home screen, tap the Go Launcher icon.
      2. Wait while the terminal syncs with Moneris.
      3. On the selection screen (shown on the left), tap the drop-down menu and select Go Integrated.
      4. Tap Launch app. The Go Integrated app, which you installed in the previous step, will open and sync with Moneris.

    Note: Selecting the Go Integrated app in the Go Launcher only needs to be done once. The next time your reboot the terminal, the Go Integrated app will start automatically.

     
    1. Configure the Go Integrated app.
      1. On the “Let’s get payment ready” screen, tap Go.
      2. On the language screen, select a language for the initial setup.
      3. On the configuration screen (shown on the left), select the terminal language you prefer when using the terminal.
      4. Under Operational mode, select Cloud.
      5. For "Print on ECR," tap the toggle to turn the setting off. This means receipts will be printed on the terminal.
      6. Tap Save. The terminal syncs with Moneris.
      7. On the Merchant ID screen, enter your merchant ID. You can find your merchant ID in the welcome messages from Moneris.
      8. At the congratulations screen, tap Go. The integrated mode idle screen appears showing the time and date. Your terminal is ready to receive transaction commands from Go Retail.
    1. To change integration settings or exit integrated mode:
      1. At the idle screen showing the time and date, swipe inward from the left side of the screen.
      2. Go to step 4.
    1. Choose one of the following actions:
      • To change integration settings, tap Settings and enter the passcode (212324). Return to step 2 for help, if required.
      • To exit integrated mode, tap Exit. If you exit, the terminal will no longer be integrated with the Go Retail web application. However, you can use the Go Retail terminal application if you have the Go Plus terminal. To install the Go Retail terminal application, refer to Install the optional Go Retail app on the Go Plus terminal
      • To go back, tap the x at the top, left of the screen.

     

    External barcode scanners

    Set up and use an external barcode scanner with the web app

    A scanner allows you to efficiently capture barcode information while eliminating the potential errors associated with manual entry. The Go Retail web application supports the use of an external barcode scanner to capture UPC and SKU codes and to add products to the cart when a customer is ready to check out.

    Note: If you're using the Go Retail app on the Moneris Go Plus terminal, refer to Using the Go Plus terminal's integrated scanner.

     

     

    External scanners available from Moneris

    Moneris sells two barcode scanners on our online store at https://shop.moneris.com, both of which will work with the Go Retail web application.

    Socket Mobile 1D Barcode Scanner Voyager 1250g General Duty Scanner (also known as the PAYD Pro Plus In-store Scanner)
    • Portable wireless scanner
    • Requires Bluetooth connection.
    • Available cradle for continuous charging and hands-free operation
    • Larger, wired scanner
    • Requires a USB port
    • Includes stand for hands-free operation

     

    Connect the Socket Mobile 1D Barcode Scanner

    1. Unpack the scanner (and charge cradle, if ordered) from the packaging.
    2. Locate the scanner’s documentation included in its box.
    3. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to:
      • seat the scanner in its cradle (if purchased)
      • charge the scanner for 8 hours before using it, using the cradle or the charging cable
      • pair the scanner with your computer using Bluetooth connection

     

    Connect the Voyager 1250g General Duty scanner

    1. Unpack the scanner from the packaging.
    2. Locate the scanner’s documentation included in its box.
    3. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to:
      • connect the scanner to your computer using a USB cable or one of the other cable options; the scanner will configure itself automatically;
      • seat the scanner in its stand for hands-free use

     

    Capture SKU and UPC codes

    In the Go Retail web application on your computer, use your external scanner to capture the SKU and UPC codes when adding a product to your store, editing an existing product, or finding a product to add to the cart. Fields that can be populated using a scanner are indicated by a barcode icon as shown below in red outline:

    Follow these steps to capture barcode information using an external scanner:

    1. Place your cursor in the field where you want the barcode data to appear. For example, if you are about to scan the SKU barcode from a product, first place your cursor in the SKU field.
    2. Scan the appropriate barcode using your scanner. The barcode data will appear in the field.
    3. Place your cursor in the next field where you want barcode data to appear. For example, if you want to capture the UPC next, place your cursor in the UPC field and scan the UPC barcode from a product.

     

    Add a product to the cart using your scanner

    This help topic applies to the Go Retail web application.

    When customers in your store are ready to check out, you can save time by scanning the products they wish to purchase. The barcode icon in the order details panel indicates the cart is ready to receive scanned items for purchase. Simply scan the UPC barcode from each product to add it to the cart. Make sure your mouse in not in the search bar.

    The application adds the product to the cart with a quantity of 1. 

     

    Tax settings

    Tax settings

    In order to charge the correct taxes, you must configure tax settings for your store.

    IMPORTANT: The rates provided in the application are suggestions only. You are solely responsible for determining and applying the correct goods, sales, harmonized and other tax rates to be applied as part of your transactions with your customers. Moneris does not provide tax, accounting, legal or other professional advice and does not warrant or guarantee that the rates suggested are applicable to you or your goods/services.

     

    1. On the main menu, hover over Settings, then click Store.  
    1. On the Store settings page, scroll down to Tax settings.
    2. If you have your tax registration number ready, click Yes, I am eligible to collect taxes. 
    3. Under Sales tax, select your Province of business.  
    4. In the field for Tax registration number, enter the information required. This will vary by province. You may be asked to enter a registration number for one or more of these taxes: GST, PST, HST, RST, or QST. 
    5. When prompted to confirm the tax rate, click checkbox next to "I agree". 
    6. Click Save. Your tax settings are done.  When you create your products, you can select the appropriate tax status (Fully taxed, PST-exempt, QST-exempt, GST-exempt, tax-free) for each product. Go Retail will apply the correct amount of tax based on your province of business. 

     

    1. If you have already created a product, and that product is exempt from one or more taxes, you can assign a tax status to the product here. 
      1. Click the appropriate tab (PST-Exempt, GST-Exempt, or Tax-free).  
      2. Click Add products. 
      3. When the product panel appears, select the products or categories, then click Save. 
      4. The panel closes and the products you selected will appear under the selected tab. When you sell these products, Go Retail will not charge the exempted tax or taxes.  For example, if a product is exempt from GST, Go Retail will charge only the PST. If a product is tax-free, Go Retail will not charge any taxes.

    Install the optional Go Retail app on the Go Plus terminal

    In addition to the web-based interface in the Go Portal, you can also use Go Retail on the Moneris Go Plus terminal. The Go Plus terminal is connected to Moneris by cellular communication and therefore does not require a separate Internet connection. The Go Plus terminal is a convenient way of using Moneris Go Retail to process transactions without needing your computer or laptop. 

    Watch the video and consult the written steps below as needed. 

    Follow these instructions to download and install the Go Retail app on your Moneris Go Plus terminal. 

    1. On the terminal home screen, tap the AppStore icon.
    1. On the Catalog tab, look for the Go Retail POS app and tap it.
    1. Tap Install to download and install the app. When the app is installed, the button changes to Uninstall. The Go Retail POS app should now be listed under the MyApps tab. 
    1. On the Android navigation bar, tap the circle icon to return to the home screen. 
    1. On the home screen, tap the Go Retail POS icon to open the app. 
    1. Sign into the app using your terminal credentials. In the Go Retail portal, you (or your manager) can create your terminal credentials (username and password) in the "Terminal access" section of your user account. In order to process transactions in the terminal app, you must also enable portal access.
      • To create a new user account, refer to Add a user. 
      • To edit an existing user account, refer to Edit a user
