Overview

Promotion management overview

A promotion is an automated way of providing discounts to your customers to encourage more sales and to streamline the checkout process. Go Retail allows you to quickly create, organize, and manage your promotions. For each promotion, you can specify:

a start date and time (for example, 15% discount during the month of December)
an end date and time; this is optional
a percentage or dollar value for the discount
which products and/or categories are eligible for the discount
conditions for the discount (for example, the customer must spend at least $20)

You can also create multiple discounts and activate or deactivate them as needed. Discounts cannot be combined. If more than one promotion applies to a purchase, Go Retail will automatically give the customer the best promotion.

Note: You can still apply a discount manually to an individual product and/or to the whole cart. Refer to Purchase / New transaction.

On the main menu, click Promotions. The Promotions page appears showing all promotions.

Follow these steps to create a promotion.

Manage Promotions

After creating your promotions, you can manage them as required. Go Retail allows you to easily edit, deactivate, or delete a promotion. You can also reset a promotion that has expired.

On the main menu, click Promotions.
On the Promotions page, click on the promotion you want to manage.
The Edit promotion screen appears.
Choose one of the tasks below.

Note: If a promotion has expired, that is, the promotion has passed its end date, you can make it active again by setting a new end date.

ON THIS PAGE

	On the main menu, click Promotions.
	On the Promotions page, click Create promotion.
	On the Create promotion screen, under Promotion details: Enter a name for the promotion. Enter an optional description.
	Under Active dates: Go Retail enters the current date by default. Change the start date if needed. Go Retail enters the current time by default. Change the start time if needed. To set an end date, click the checkbox next to Set end date then enter the end date and end time. If you don't set an end date, the promotion will continue until you deactivate or delete it.
	Under Discount rules: Click the drop-down field labelled "Apply discount to" and select All orders or Specific products and categories. Under Discount amount, select By Percentage (%) or By value ($), then enter a percentage or dollar value, as appropriate. If you selected "Specific products and category" in step a, click Add to add specific products or categories to which the discount will apply. Note: If you select a parent category, the promotion will be applied to all subcategories below it, even though the subcategories are not checked.
	Under Minimum purchase requirements: Select No requirements or Minimum purchase amount. If you selected Minimum purchase amount, enter the minimum dollar amount (before taxes) the customer must spend to get the discount.
	Review the details you entered for this promotion. Once you are satisfied with your options, scroll to the top of the screen and choose one of the following: Click Save as draft to save this promotion and continue working on it later. Click Save and publish to save this promotion and enable it immediately. Click Back to return to the Promotions page.

	Click Deactivate.
	At the confirmation prompt, click Deactivate again. The Deactivate button changes to Activate.
	To re-activate the promotion, click Activate.

	Click Delete.
	At the confirmation prompt, click Delete again. Go Retail deletes the promotion and returns to the Promotions page.
