    To lock the screen:

    Battery management

    Battery management

To maintain battery charge, use any method below:

    • Direct-to-terminal charge cable: Connect this cable to the power port on the left side of the terminal and plug the other end into a working power outlet.
    • Charge base: Dock the terminal on the optional charging base.

    Battery status indicators

The battery icon displays in the status bar. The icon reflects the battery charge status/charge level.

    Charging the battery

    Charging the battery

    1. Charge the terminal’s internal battery for 4 hours using one of the following methods:
      • Optional charge-only base (see below)
      • Direct-to-terminal charge cable (see below).
Recommendations: Always plug the power cable into the power source last to avoid power surges. Use a power bar equipped with surge protection where possible. Do not use the power cable from your existing terminal, as it may damage your new terminal.

Important: You must use the exact power adaptor and cables provided by Moneris to work with the Moneris Move/5000 terminal and base. Failure to do so may affect the operability of, or cause damage to, the equipment.

    Use the charge-only base
    1. Locate the base's power cable.
    1. Turn the base over and open the panel cover on the underside of the base.
    1. Insert the power cable connector into the small circular port (power) in the underside of the base.
    2. Replace the panel cover on the bottom of the base, and turn it back over.
    3. Plug the other end of the cable into a working power outlet.
    1. Dock the terminal on the base. Ensure that the contacts slot on the underside of the terminal fits securely over the leads prong on the base.
    1. When the terminal powers on, proceed to step 2 below.

    Using the direct-to-terminal charge cable
    1. Locate the direct-to-terminal charge cable.
    1. Locate the power port on the left side of the terminal (marked with the power symbol ().
    1. Insert the direct-to-terminal cable connector into the port.
    1. Plug the other end of the cable into a working power outlet.

    Wireless communication indicators

    Wireless communication indicators

There are 2 variations of the wireless terminal.

Terminals with dual communication (both 4G and Wi-Fi communication)

The terminal uses long-range cellular communication (4G or 3G) to send and receive information to and from the Moneris host. The terminal communicates via 4G by default for faster communication rates, and uses 3G as a fallback where 4G is not available. If you set up a Wi-Fi network, the terminal will switch to Wi-Fi when the Wi-Fi signal is stronger.

    Terminals with Wi-Fi communication only

You must set up a Wi-Fi network on the terminal in order to communicate with Moneris. You may disregard any references to 4G in this manual.

    Network indicators

The network indicator appears in the status bar at the top of the screen.

    Icon Description
4G Terminal is currently connected to and using the authorized carrier's 4G wireless network.
3G Terminal is currently connected to and using the authorized carrier's 3G wireless network (as fallback).
Wi-Fi Terminal is currently connected to your local Wi-Fi network.

    To test 4G/3G wireless communication:

    1. While the terminal is powered on, confirm that the 4G/3G status icons listed above are displayed.
    2. Confirm that there is sufficient signal strength (see the Signal strength indicator table below).

    Signal strength indicator

    Icon Description
5 bars: Terminal is receiving a very strong signal from the network and can process transactions.
4 bars: Terminal is receiving a strong signal from the network and can process transactions.
3 bars: Terminal is receiving a good signal from the network and can process transactions.
2 bars: Terminal is receiving a signal from the network and can process transactions but may take longer to complete them.
1 bar: The terminal is receiving a weak signal and may not be able to process transactions and/or print receipts.
0 bars: The terminal is not receiving any signal and CANNOT process transactions.

      • Only Purchases, Refunds, and Balance Inquiries can be processed using a contactless card.
      • The transaction amount must be equal to or less than the maximum Contactless Transaction Limit set for the card. If the amount is greater than the contactless limit for the card, the terminal displays “Limit exceeded” followed by “Insert or swipe”.  To complete the transaction for the same amount, the customer inserts or swipes their card.
      • The card must be within 0.5 in. (1.3 cm) of the screen, but it does not have to touch it.
      • The card must be tapped or waved by itself (the customer cannot leave the card in their wallet and wave it in front of the screen).
